Online Practicum//observation addition

For my observation I chose "Morning Meetings: Mrs. Gaffney's class and also Mrs. G's morning meetings: Hit the floor".

What I noticed most about both teachers and their classes, is how they started their morning with a introduction of each student. Even though they had different activities to do so, they both had the same concept. I found that very entertaining and genius all at once. With those activities it gives everyone a chance to learn one another's name. With Mrs. G's activity, it gives the student a chance to show their personality a little bit and not be so shy with everyone cheering them on. I feel that is an awesome way to get the students woke, and ready to learn.

Also, guided reading is extremely important. What I took notice is, the teacher started off by telling them about the book, she went through every page and her and the children described what was going on in each picture. Afterwards, she had the children begin reading aloud, as she monitored and also took notes. She was also there to quickly help if the child got stuck on any word or line. I would define guided reading as "following along" . Meaning to follow word by word as you read.
