My O'Keeffe painting was actually very unique and it was the first time I have attempted something of that nature. This artist did an excellent job of capturing the little details and the light of the different paintings. When going through this process my first initial thought was to choose a photo that looked the most simple and easy to recreate (knowingly none are easy and they all look just as difficult) but I chose the pelvis painting. For starters it was hard trying to get a direct color match so I went with what I had which was a more off white color. Next, I shaped out the oval like shape as if I was looking through the pelvis. One of the hardest parts was getting the shade of the moon that was a bit in the distance. After that, I attempted to work on the outer shading around the blue, on the pelvis area. My darker shades ended up just turning to more of a black, so after I applied it, I went back in with a wet brush and tried my best to blend it out and it turned out okay, not exactly matched but somewhat close. I really credit this artist for her uniqueness and artiste because this is something I would have never thought of doing, taking things and making it look like something they are actually not, it is almost a misconception to the eye. I find that intriguing and interesting. As far as one of my 8 studios of minds I believe I used stretch and explore. I feel like this assignment really forced me to stretch my imagination into recreating something that feels nearly impossible to recreate. As far as the explore portion, exploring this artist was different, it was just really captivating to see. I feel like studying this artist could ring some bells because of the type of things she chooses to paint, however I believe it allows the student to have a different concept when looking at paintings and to open their imagination to more than what I feel they may see in their everyday life. I have been thinking of just other ways to incorporate art into the classroom. I feel that we could travel to a certain destination and just look out an incision, and after we have captured that vision go back to the classroom and recreate, using one of the styles that was previously taught to us or trying to incorporate all three. I would love to one day just make a masterpiece of all of the artist. I am really starting to get a hang of it all, and I am beginning to really enjoy it and it is actually becoming a relaxing thing for me. I hope in the future that I can bring all of these techniques into my classroom. Especially during writing, I feel writing can for sure be a form of art and can be utilized in a variety of ways.
