within the video, (which I started with part two on accident then went back to part 1) I noticed that the class is still taking the time to study chairs. This time, the teacher had a slide show of chairs up on the screen and was basically discussing their physical appearance. The students then began to compare the chairs that were on the screen to the chairs in their own household. So, that was a good skill set they were able to tackle (observation and comparison). It was a little hard to hear but I believe that their assignment was to give ideas on how to make a chair. Listening to the two little girls, they were discussing how to build a chair that was basically kitten proof. They were seeing how they can have the kittens under the chair but then somehow do something so they could get out. One of the girls got sidetracked with the video camera sitting there and kind of focused her attention there and briefly gave us a show for a second. Another thing that I noticed in the practicum is the phrase that the teacher uses to gather the student's attention. “class class, yes yes” .... I could also observe that the students are not afraid and not ashamed to share their ideas in front of the class. That tells me that the classroom is a welcoming environment. Towards the end of part one, once again, when the students spotted the camera, they started to act silly. Me personally being in front of a camera makes me nervous but with a child it brings out their inner silliness and their comedian side. In part 2 the children were able to begin the process of designing and building their chair. I like the fact that if they did not have all of the supplies that they needed to have a successful char that they could add it to their “shopping list” and they have a shopping area.
