In the beginning the teacher started off by reading a book and she gave the children something to think about. I love the idea that the students asked questions when they didn’t understand. That they knew what questions to ask and that their brains are trying to critically think and understand at their age. I also enjoyed the lesson where the students were learning to categorize the different animals, and the different ways they were choosing to group them. When the children grouped up, I just thought it was so funny at how entertained the little girl was in cutting with the scissors. Also, the two little girls had a brief disagreement about a bee. Then versus it turning into a small debate between the two, the little girl went as far as telling her a fact about the bee even though she didn’t like it and it turned into a positive conversation. I feel the two girls worked really well and talked through everything even if it was a bit off topic sometimes, to get their assignment done. I think I enjoyed the math portion of the practicum the most just because I love math even if I am not great at explaining it. I loved how the teacher had the students draw out a certain number of tiles and have them in different colors. Then she had the children create a math equation to match their tiles. Of course the way the teacher worded it, the kids didn’t quite know what it meant, but I feel that the teacher did a great job and breaking it down to the children and getting them to understand what she is wanting them to do. It took a little for the children to pick up, but overall I think the children are super smart and was able to comprehend what was taken place.
